Good

These people bless me. There are few things in life as fulfilling or rich as good friends.

Between the cheese platter (please admire it in the picture below as the hubs put alot of love into it), Broadway tunes around the piano, and "Last Word" I don't know how my heart didn't burst with happiness.

Good friends, good food, good coffee. Who could ask for anything more? Make sure you take a minute today to be grateful for the good friends in your life.

PS - Those of you that know me well will find this shocking. I have started to branch out and cook! We made a pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon with cherries and I didn't even burn it.

Undertaking

I'm sure all of you are dying to know what word I chose for my theme for 2010. (And by all of you, I mean my one follower so far, my husband.) I thought about using words like "discipline", "prayer", and "gratitude". But after deliberating for a few days I chose "love".

There are two verses that came to mind that sealed the deal on love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 and Matthew 22:35-39. If love is one of the greatest concepts in the Bible then I'd better take a closer look at it.

To me this feels like a huge undertaking. How in the world do you wrap your mind around love? And by love, I mean real love. Not the word we throw around on t-shirts about New York.

I'm glad I have a year because it's not going to be an easy task. I have a lot of Bible digging to do, and I've got to put into action the things I'm learning. But what a great concept. I'm hoping to come out of 2010 a better wife, sister, daughter, friend, and neighbor. So at the end of each month I'm planning to post an entry about something new I've learned about love to keep me on track with this feat.

Let me know if you like this one word concept as much as I do and tell me your one word theme for 2010.

One

The beginning of January I received an email challenging me to choose one word as a theme for the new year. One word to study, learn, and live out as life would lead for 2010. Immediately I loved this idea, although I have to admit I've never been into new year's resolutions. They always seemed silly to me, and we all know that 99% of the population doesn't stick to them for more than a few weeks. (Just visit the gym in February if you disagree.) But this idea of choosing one word and opening myself up to being teachable about a single concept struck a chord.

This blog isn't going to be dedicated to my one word (although I will write about the word and the things it's teaching me from time to time). I'm telling you all this, because my blog is inspired by the one word concept. For each entry I will pick a single word as the title and wrap my thoughts around it. This will be a benefit to the reader, since it should keep me from rabbit trailing too much, maybe....

Sometimes the word will be funny, sometimes it will be thought provoking, sometimes it will sum up my day. Basically it will just be me on electronic paper. Which lets be honest, is just a random delight! So sit back, grab a cup of coffee (make it Insomnia if you're in the area), and watch me unfold in a word.
